Mountain trout, forest honey, and resort dining with valley views
Gabala's dining scene leans on what the surrounding forest and rivers actually produce — trout from mountain streams, walnuts and chestnuts from the hillsides, and honey from hives kept in the orchards outside town. It's less about Azerbaijani classics like piti or plov (though both are available) and more about ingredients you genuinely can't get at the same quality in Baku.
Roadside stalls between Gabala and the surrounding villages sell jars of forest honey, dried fruit, and walnuts directly from the producers — worth stopping for even if you don't plan to cook, since the quality difference from supermarket equivalents is real and noticeable.
