Azerbaijan Public Holidays and Travel Closures

Public holidays can affect government offices, banks, museums, traffic and domestic travel demand. Azerbaijan’s Cabinet may shift working and non-working days, so check official announcements close to the trip instead of relying on a copied annual calendar.

Key fixed observances

Major dates commonly include New Year on 1–2 January, International Women’s Day on 8 March, Novruz around 20–24 March, Victory over Fascism Day on 9 May, Independence Day on 28 May, National Salvation Day on 15 June, Armed Forces Day on 26 June, Victory Day on 8 November, State Flag Day on 9 November and Solidarity Day on 31 December.

Religious and variable dates

Ramadan and Gurban holiday dates move according to the religious calendar and the official non-working-day decision. Novruz and other holiday periods can also be extended through working-day transfers. Reconfirm the final calendar before booking appointments.

Tour-planning effect

Attractions may operate special hours, road traffic can increase and popular hotels may sell earlier. Private tours can still be arranged on many holidays, but each museum, cable car, winery or government service must be checked individually.
