Complete Sheki Travel Guide 2026

10 min read · Updated January 2026

Sheki is one of the most beautiful and atmospheric cities in the Caucasus — a Silk Road trading hub famous for its extraordinary Khan's Palace, historic caravanserai hotels, unique cuisine, and stunning mountain setting.

Sheki sits in a broad valley in the Greater Caucasus foothills, 320 km northwest of Baku. For over 2,000 years it was one of the most important trading cities on the Caucasian Silk Road — wealthy, cosmopolitan, and famous for its silk, crafts, and the extraordinary glass mosaic work (shebeke) that reached its peak in the Khan's Palace of the 18th century.
