Baku Boulevard seafront
Baku's National Flag Square on the Caspian Boulevard was, at its inauguration in 2010, home to the world's tallest flagpole — 162 metres — flying an enormous Azerbaijani tricolour. Even after the world record was claimed by others, the sight of the vast flag flying against the Caspian Sea backdrop remains one of Baku's most dramatic scenes. The square itself is a pleasant park on the Boulevard, with the best views of the flag at sunrise when the morning light catches it from the east.
