About Palace of the Shirvanshahs

The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is the largest building in the Baku Old City — a 15th-century royal complex built by the Shirvanshah dynasty, who ruled Azerbaijan for over 1,000 years. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Walled City of Baku, the palace complex includes the main palace, the shah's mausoleum, a court mosque, the eastern gate, the ruins of an earlier mosque, and the burial vault of a court scholar. The architecture is a masterpiece of Azerbaijani medieval craftsmanship.
