Fifteen days takes everything in our 12-day Nakhchivan itinerary and adds proper depth to the parts that usually get a single rushed day. The headline addition is Khinalug — the highest continuously inhabited village in the Caucasus at 2,350 metres, occupied for over 5,000 years, and home to a language so isolated it forms its own branch unrelated to Azerbaijani or any neighbouring tongue. The drive up requires a 4WD vehicle and several hours through dramatic mountain terrain; most shorter itineraries simply don't have room for it.
The second addition is a proper stay in Lankaran and Hirkan National Park — not a quick detour but two genuine days in Azerbaijan's subtropical south, walking the ancient forest and visiting working tea plantations.
