Tour overview

This is the natural next step up from our 3-day tour, and it solves the one limitation of that itinerary directly: instead of choosing between Gobustan and Absheron, you get both, each as its own unhurried half-day excursion rather than a single rushed combination. It's still entirely Baku-based — no overnight stays outside the capital — which makes it a good fit if your schedule allows four days but you'd rather not deal with packing and unpacking at a second hotel.

If the idea of leaving Baku for a night or two appeals more than a second day trip, our 5-day tour redirects that extra day toward Sheki instead — worth considering before booking.

Gobustan & mud volcanoes
Full morning at Gobustan National Park — 6,000 prehistoric petroglyphs carved into rock, some over 40,000 years old. Continue to the nearby mud volcano field, one of the largest concentrations anywhere on earth. Return to Baku by early afternoon, with the rest of the day free.

Day 4
Absheron Peninsula & departure
Morning visit to Ateshgah Fire Temple, a Zoroastrian, Hindu, and Sikh pilgrimage site built around a natural gas vent, followed by Yanar Dag — a hillside that has burned continuously for as long as records exist. Return to Baku for a final lunch before your departure transfer.

Frequently asked questions
Why not visit Sheki instead of a second day trip?
You can — it's a genuine alternative, not a wrong choice. This itinerary suits travelers who prefer staying in one hotel and want deeper Baku-area coverage. If the highlands matter more, jump to our 5-day tour, which swaps the second day trip for an overnight in Sheki.
Can the two day trips be reordered?
Yes, Gobustan and Absheron can run in either order — we typically schedule based on which has better weather forecast that week, since both are largely outdoor visits.
Is one hotel for all 4 days, or do we move?
One hotel throughout — this itinerary is built around a single Baku base, with no packing or check-outs until departure day.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 30 days before departure. 50% refund between 15–30 days. No refund within 14 days.
