About these tours

Winter in Azerbaijan is two genuinely different experiences: Baku's Old City with no summer crowds, lower hotel prices, and a contemplative atmosphere that's hard to find in warmer months — and the ski resorts of Shahdag and Tufandag, which transform the northern highlands into a proper alpine winter destination from December through March. Our winter packages combine both deliberately, giving travelers the history and the mountain in a single trip.

Frequently asked questions
When is ski season at Shahdag and Tufandag?
Typically December through March, depending on snowfall. Shahdag has snow-making facilities that extend the reliable season. We'll confirm current conditions when you enquire.
Is skiing in Azerbaijan good compared to European resorts?
Shahdag has 16 pistes across all skill levels and is genuinely good skiing — not comparable to the Alps in scale, but excellent value, with far smaller lift queues and a relaxed atmosphere.
Do I need to be a skier for a winter Azerbaijan tour?
No — our winter packages combine non-skiing Baku and Old City time with optional ski days. Non-skiers can use the resort spa, cable car for views, and snowshoe options.
What's the temperature in Baku in winter?
Baku winters are mild by European standards — typically 5–12°C, rarely below freezing in the city, and occasionally rainy. The ski resorts at altitude are properly cold, typically -5 to -15°C on the mountain.
